What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a hands-on approach that targets the connection between your spine, nervous system, and whole-body performance. At our Red Deer clinic, Dr. Seth and Dr. Courtney focus on helping you move better, feel stronger, and recover faster by restoring proper alignment and function.

We blend precise spinal manipulation with advanced techniques including the McKenzie Method, neurodynamics, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), dry needling, manual therapy, shockwave therapy, and customized functional rehabilitation. Instead of just treating symptoms, we create personalized care plans that address the root cause—so you can get back to living and moving at your full potential.

Conditions We Commonly Treat

Our chiropractors help patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal concerns, including:

  • Lower back pain & sciatica
  • Neck pain, stiffness & “tech neck”
  • Headaches & migraines
  • Postural dysfunction
  • Sports & overuse injuries
  • Shoulder, hip & extremity pain
  • Pregnancy-related back & pelvic pain
  • Work-related strain & repetitive stress injuries

Not sure if chiropractic is right for you? Contact us — we’re happy to discuss your situation.

What to Expect

Your First Visit: Your initial appointment lasts 45–60 minutes. Your chiropractor will review your health history, discuss your symptoms and goals, and perform a thorough movement and physical assessment.

Treatment often begins on the first visit and may include spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, dry needling, or other techniques tailored to you. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your condition and a personalized plan.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement.

Follow-Up Visits: Follow-up visits are typically 10–20 minutes. Your chiropractor will track your progress and adjust your treatment as needed. Care may include adjustments, soft tissue work, dry needling, shockwave therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and postural guidance.

Because we’re a multi-disciplinary clinic, your chiropractor can coordinate with our physiotherapy and massage therapy teams when it will benefit your recovery. We prioritize clear communication so you always understand your treatment and progress.

Treatment frequency varies depending on:

  • the condition
  • symptom severity
  • how long symptoms have been present
  • movement limitations
  • recovery goals

Some people seek short-term care for acute pain, while others benefit from longer rehabilitation-focused treatment plans.

Chiropractic care is considered a commonly used conservative treatment option for many musculoskeletal conditions. For most individuals, chiropractic adjustments are considered safe when performed by a properly trained and licensed chiropractor. Treatment begins with an assessment to help determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for the individual and which techniques may be most suitable.

Not every patient requires the same type of treatment, and care is tailored to the individual presentation.

Yes. Chiropractors in Alberta are authorized to order publicly funded X-rays and limited investigative musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasounds under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). They can also order MRIs and certain other advanced scans, though specific rules and funding vary by modality.

Depending on your symptoms, examination findings, and medical history, a chiropractor may recommend imaging to gather additional information or rule out certain conditions.

Chiropractic care is not covered under the standard Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Most people access care through private extended health benefit plans (workplace insurance, Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, etc.). We offer direct billing to most major insurers where available. We also accept MVA claims and private pay. Please contact us or your benefits provider to confirm your coverage. We do not accept WCB claims.
